Questions managing partners ask the helpdesk
Straight answers on speed, software fluency, courtroom coverage, and trial-prep nights. More architecture lives on SFV Cloud law firm IT services.
How quickly does your helpdesk respond when an attorney has an urgent issue?
One hour for first response on urgent attorney issues. That is the published SLA, not a marketing range. Open a ticket in Immediate Legal Helpdesk and you reach the legal desk. If the issue is an e-filing cutoff, a hearing in two hours, or a partner who cannot sign in before a deposition, we treat it as a filing problem first. Non-urgent requests (new printer mapping, a non-blocking software update) are queued in order, still by people who already know the firm's systems.
Do your IT technicians understand law firm software like Clio or NetDocuments?
Yes. Daily work includes Clio, Filevine, iManage, NetDocuments, MyCase, Microsoft 365, and the PDF and scanning path that feeds them. Technicians are not reading a vendor knowledge base for the first time on your ticket. We keep lab access to the same products, and we do not close a ticket until the attorney can complete the workflow that broke: open the matter, check in the document, send the encrypted production, or generate the pleading. That is the difference between attorney IT support and a generic helpdesk that has heard of legal software.
Can you support our attorneys while they are off-site at court or traveling?
Yes. Remote support is built for off-site counsel: Stanley Mosk, downtown arbitrations, hotel rooms, and home offices. Virtual desktops, MFA, and managed laptops mean the matter stays in the system of record. If a partner is in a hallway outside Department 48 with a frozen exhibit deck, the same Immediate Legal Helpdesk that the office uses will remote in. Cellular and courthouse Wi-Fi are expected, not treated as an exotic network.
How do you handle after-hours IT emergencies during trial prep?
Patching and backups are scheduled so they do not reboot a workstation while a brief is still open. After-hours emergencies during trial prep go to an on-call engineer through the helpdesk ticketing system, rather than a next-business-day bot. If the failure is hardware in the office, dispatch covers the Valley and Greater Los Angeles. If the failure is identity, DMS, or a court portal, we stay on the ticket until the confirmation is in hand. The overnight is for drafting, not for watching a progress bar.
